Christopher D. Wiggins - England

      Christopher Wiggins is a prolific composer, with more than 150 compositions to his credit. His works encompass the concerto, chamber music, full orchestral pieces, choral works and educational music. They have been performed in more than 35 countries.

     Wiggins has a particular interest in the Horn, composing music for Solo Horn to an ensemble of 18 Horns. His four Suites for Eight Horns are well known and often performed. Among Wiggins’ other major works for Horn are Concerto for Solo Horn and Orchestra, Opus 81, and the Four Horn Concerto with Orchestra, Opus 93.

     Born in 1956, Wiggins’ formal music education includes a BA(Honors) in Music, specializing in composition, from Liverpool University, a postgraduate certificate in education with distinction from Teacher Training College, Bretton Hall, and a Bachelor of Music degree in composition from Liverpool University. He has also earned a Master of Music in composition from London Goldsmith’s and a Master of Philosophy in Composition from the University of Surrey.

      Wiggins was honored as a Fellow of Trinity College of Mujsic, London, in 1986. He is a life member of the International Horn Society, plus holds memberships in the British Music Information Center, the British Academy of Composers and Song Writers, the European String Teachers’ Association and the Performing Rights Society.
